Going to Paris should be a rewarding experience. Regardless of the travel’s purpose, whether it be for leisure or even if it’s business-related, you must not be anxious too much about what you should do and what things should be averted. God forbid you end up in your Paris hotel, worried about going out at all. Underneath are some guidelines that you may consider to make your travel a bit more pleasurable and more of a worthwhile experience.

Carrying maps around looking bewildered, and stopping to look at monuments or buildings, obviously shows that you are from another town and may attract the bad type of interest. So if you can, act a little more sure in your activities and if you are lost, be a good judge of people. For me, you can’t go too wrong with nice looking couples or older professionals. But still be careful.

Do not be too flashy with your money when you have a lot of money on you no matter which country and place you are in. Never pull a huge amount of cash from your pocket as it will just catch other people’s attention making your travel spree more dangerous and potentially having bad guys following you.

Always have an itinerary to guide you to the places that you plan to visit. Budget your cash for that day so that you will not end up short of money but also don’t pull too much from the ATM. It is advisable to bring a card with you so that you will have a backup in case you find something appealing to buy, but so that you aren’t toting far more than you need.

Steer clear of taking food or drinks given by a stranger. This may just put you in a state of great danger. The nicest looking people may have hidden ulterior motives and the last thing you want is to end up drugged and unable to handle yourself.

It is also not a good idea to carry your original passport with you when you are roaming around. Just bring a photocopy of it in case there is an inspection. Leave the original passport in a secure place in your hotel room. Also, it’s a good idea to scan all your travel documents and upload them to a web based email prior to your trip.
