If you want to go to Paris on a budget, the very first thing you will have to consider will be your airfare. Your accommodations will come next and then food, transport within the city and other miscellaneous costs follow.
Paris is one of the oldest and classiest cities in all of Europe and is usually one of the top choices for any traveler going to Europe.
There are two large airports that primarily serve Europe. One is Charles de Gaulle (CDG) and the other is Orly (ORY). The Charles de Gaulle airport primarily deals with International travel while Ory handles domestic. The two airports see over 70 million passengers annually.
When I visited Paris recently, I flew into Heathrow London and then took the Eurostar over to Paris. I have heard of others doing the same flying into Amsterdam as well.
Another trick I use is to search about five to six weeks in advance and then search flexibly by month. You can then choose your dates from within that.
Paris generally doesn't have an off season since it is a year round travel spot. Summer and Spring however will generally be more expensive though for obvious reasons.
This won't apply to everyone, but what my friend is doing this January is using his free voucher he got for giving up his seat to fly to Paris. He could have flown anywhere in the US for free or $400 off Europe. This is amazing and fully transferable. If you have friends who have one of these expiring, might be worth it.
Good luck!
